My Sent folder is suddenly showing the most recent message being from 2001. I've deleted the sent.msf file and restarted Thunderbird, but to no avail.

While I try to use the repair folder feature inside Thunderbird I get an error message of "The operation failed because another operation is using the folder. Please wait for that operation to finish and then try again." This happens repeatedly.

The Sent folder is showing it was last updated on 8/6/2017 at 4:04 pm, and contains 2,551,986 KB of data.

I've deleted the sent.msf file multiple times and the last message again shows it was sent in 2001. I've deleted all .msf files from my profile and still have the same result.

I've deleted both sent and sent.msf completely from the profile and then copied sent back to that (from a backup made after this problem started) and still get 2001 as the last sent date.

Any idea how to fix this? Obviously, the messages are still in the Sent Folder (as indicated above).

Thanks!

Also, I can send messages from Thunderbird, but now get the error message of "There was an error saving the message to Sent."

The outgoing message gets delivered, but a copy obviously is not showing up in the Sent folder.

Never got that before -- and didn't make any changes to any Thunderbird settings before this started.

More testing with odd results:

Deleted the sent folder entirely from my profile, opened Thunderbird and created a new sent folder by sending a new email. But once I did that, it auto-populated that sent folder with sent messages dating from 2001 and backwards.

Deleted that again and copied an old backup sent folder from July 2017 (before this problem began). Opened Thunderbird and those old sent messages dating from 2001 and backwards were there again, but nothing more recent than that.

So, something about the sent folder is being controlled beyond the folder itself or its .msf file.

Any ideas?

Another weird thing. If I do a search within Thunderbird of the Sent folder, I can see a summary of sent messages I sent last week (thus meaning they're still available somewhere), but when I click on any of those search result messages, I get nothing.
