I downloaded Firefox on my admin account. It works fine when i log in using my windows 10 home account. When i have my other family members log into the machine as Local/Standard users, they can see the firefox shortcut on the desktop and in the start menu but when they click, double click, or right mouse and select open, nothing happens. Task Manager does not show that the program launched. I can right click and "Run as Administrator" under their Local/Standard Account. How do i get them access?

You might have to assign specific permissions to local user accounts.

I was thinking I might, but I can't figure out how to do this in Windows 10. I have been doing searches on the web, but have not been able to find something that works. Any help would be appreciated.

Shut down Firefox. Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Right click on Firefox.exe and select Properties. Now select Compatibility. Turn Off Run This Program In Compatibility Mode, and Run This Program As An Administrator.

Do the same for any Firefox shortcuts you have. Now restart Firefox.

FredMcD, I thought I did this, but my understanding is that the user still has to provide an Administrator password. I will try it again though.

Firefox doesn't need administrator setting.

I think your issue's not related to Firefox per se, but to some Group Policy implemented on the server.

You can setup Windows Server in order to allow specific applications only, or to block specific applications.

That's what I think it's going on in your case.

The problem lies on a Windows 10 Home OS; there is no server involved with this OS.

I tried this, and when I launched Firefox I was prompted for the admin password. So, obviously not a viable work around for the local user account.

Greetings, I have Firefox (57.0.4 [32bit]) on a Windows 10 Home 32bit (1709 [16299.125]) notebook, which only has two accounts.

Under the user/local account, Firefox will launch, the process shows in the task manager, but no window displays or icon appears in the taskbar. It functions normally under the administrator account.

I have: Uninstalled and reinstalled the program Deleted xulstore.json (lolcalstore.rdf did not exist) from that account's AppData folder Compared Windows Firewall settings against another PC; identical settings. There is no other security program on the notebook. {If you must know, I recover a system image; do program updates; and recreate the system image every 2-3 months.}

This behavior started after the last restoration cycle at the end of December.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
