Our latest addition, security cameras (HIKVision) are not compatible with Firefox because they require ActiveX. Your decision decision to eliminate the plug-in, has forced us back to the clunky Internet Explorer. Please contact the millions of cast-off Firefox users when you come up with a solution, and we'll give you another try.

ActiveX controls have never run in Firefox.

If you require a proprietary "Netscape style" plugin in Firefox, you can use the Extended Support Release of Firefox 52 for the rest of its supported lifetime (through next Spring). More info:

Your Firefox identified itself as running on MacOS X. If you are planning to use the ESR version on 64-bit Windows, make sure to install the 32-bit version of Firefox. On Windows, the 64-bit version is limited to Flash and Silverlight.

And I suggest encouraging your vendor to extend support to a plugin-free Firefox as it said it would do for Chrome when Chrome ended support for plugins: http://www.hikvision.com/us/Press-Release-details_91_i3297.html

You may also have to install Java in case a Java applet is used instead of an ActiveX control that only works in older Windows internet Explorer versions.
