Thunderbird crashes frequently when downloading IMAP mail @ CAudioClientTraceLogger::LogInitialize
Thunderbird has been running for many months without problems. Suddenly, whilst downloading emails from IMAP server, it crashes. Tried Safe mode - still crashes. Tried re-install of Thunderbird - still crashes. Tried new profile - still crashes. Run with logging enabled, 2.6GB log file, but no useful pointers, it just crashes.

Many thanks. Problem appears to have been solved by switching off "Play a sound". Drivers were up to date ( 02/2018)

All these crashes are in the audio drivers @ CAudioClientTraceLogger::LogInitialize
A workaround is to disable "play a sound" notification in tools > options > general.
Beyond that, try updating audio drivers
