Firefox won't load most websites. It says "Your connection is not secure" even for www.mozilla.com

If I start in safe mode, the websites will load. I have disabled my add-ons one by one and that didn't help.

The only way to get the websites to load was to follow this advice: go to about:config security.enterprise_roots.enabled <-- changed the value to true

But, I think if I leave the setting that way, I won't actually get any warnings on sites that truly are not secure.

I have the latest Firefox installed and have reinstalled it multiple times.

Hi, I would check to see if there is any updates for your AMD Radeon(TM) HD 8510G driverDate: 8-6-2015 before support ends for it if not already has : https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

There is security software like Avast/AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate. If you are running any of the above software please check their community forum for a work around to apply settings.

These pages are also for the errors you may have besides relating to the above.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

What security software do you have?

I tried updating the AMD thing. I am not using any security software except whatever is built into Windows. Windows Defender, I guess.

You can check if there is more detail available about the issuer of the certificate.

  • click the "Advanced" button show more detail
  • click the blue error text (SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER) to show the certificate chain
  • click "Copy text to clipboard" and paste the base64 certificate chain text in a reply

If clicking the blue error text doesn't provide the certificate chain then try these steps to inspect the certificate.

  • open the Server tab in the Certificate Manager
    • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Certificates: View Certificates -> Servers: "Add Exception"
  • paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's Location field

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"

  • click the "View" button and inspect the certificate

You can see detail like the issuer of the certificate and intermediate certificates in the Details tab.

But, it's the not issuer of the certificate. Mozilla doesn't load. Google doesn't load.
