Reply and Forward time stamp

more options

Thunderbird in Reply uses local time when message was received, but in Forward uses mail server's local time plus time zone.

For example, our time is CET (GMT+2), mail server's time is GMT

In Reply we get "On DATE_CET_TIME sender wrote..." In Forward we have table with row "Date: DATE_GMT_TIME+Offset"

Is there parameter that forces Thunderbird to always use local time when forwarding messages, same as it does for reply?

Thanks, regards Ivica

Hello there Iglavocic.

We try to help you. We have read your message.

What is really the question here?

A lot of topics can be about time and its settings.

The receiver will use a local time received that is from its own time zone and is also visible when it is sent.

When sending an email, it uses the time and local time zone in which it is located.

You can set when this mail will be sent at a time set by you when you want it. It takes 1 second to send it to your recipient.

The question was whether a type of parameter has been confirmed in thunderbird mail.

in a search option for the program itself- in programming language.

It could then be in the form of a written subject.

Maybe there is someone else who can give you a better story about this. I can't give a direct answer to this like in the programming- language of a topic in Thunderbird-Firefox.

Hi День сумо

In 10:22 my local time I recieve message from Office365 user JOHN, their time zone UTC.

We are in UTC+2.

On recieved mail displayed timestamp is: 10:22

When I reply, top of quote says: On 10:22 JOHN sent ...

When I forward that same message, on top of Forwarded message time is: 08:22 + 0000

I would like to see 10:22 in forwarded message, same as in reply.

Regards, Ivica

Hello there iglavocic. We have read the message.

Hello may I ask in what part of America you live? And in what part does your sender live?

You are a Thunderbird user, your sender is a different type of user regarding email provision.

Certain email programs use the methods that you mentioned slightly differently than the others.

Hello there again. Iglavocic.

The forwarded mail was probably sent by your sender at that time in a different state, it is more a service of the time system that Thunderbird uses in there email system.

Can you send a photo of what you mean exactly?

Hi День сумо

Like I previously wrote, our local timezone is UTC+2 (CET) Sender is using Microsoft Outlook hosted solution with servers in UTC+0 timezone.

Please check attached picture:

  1. Original message arrived at 15:52 local time (CET)
  2. Reply quoted local time (CET)
  3. Forward quoted server time (UTC)

Problem I am trying to solve is how Thunderbird displays time when forwarding messages.

I would like to make Thunderbird use same local time in forwards as it does in replies.

Thanks, regards Ivica

Hello there iglavocic.

Changing the time zone to that of the sender and vice versa?

You want to change the system the way you want without having an option?

That is not possible. Try a addon,Tweak.

you are not there in the other time zone place. And the sender uses outlook. These time images may be different on his screen. Because the time-stamp could be diffrent.

you could change the clock of your personal computer to settings of your menu in windows I assume you use that?

If you want to change these applications into a detour that is not legal, don't do it.

I referred you to an addon from us before. I have checked the archive again. I found another one. To be able to use this you will have to install it on your personal PC.

to have a recent Firefox Browser installed.

Addon-Thunderbird ,Time-zone /change. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/change-timezone-time-shift/

If you have more questions, feel free to mail us to help you use a recent version of Firefox browser and Thunderbird.

Use a good antivirus.

Hi День сумо

Thank you for your effort, but we can not apply your suggestions in our case, all we need is parameter to change how Thunderbird displays date in forward, no need to change time zone or any other system setting.

With regards Ivica
