For the changes to authentication method announced by Yahoo a specific entry is available on the following link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo . Sounds good, but the information is not actionable. Problems: 1) concerning instruction: Set outgoing server (SMTP) 'Authentication Method' to 'Oauth2' -> there is NO such authentication method! (see 'Pic1-NoOauth2') 2) concerning instruction: Set incoming server 'Authentication Method' to 'Oauth2' -> once the change is made to 'Oauth2' Thunderbird is only displaying an error with authentication method (see 'Pic2-Error') Thanks for any suggestions on how to solve this problem.

Could this be due to the current server settings you are using ?

https://es-us.ayuda.yahoo.com/kb/Introduce-la-configuraci%C3%B3n-IMAP-sln4075.html

I've been checking around for imap and smtp server settings for yahoo.es . Even PostBox and Mailbird say same settings as info at the link. For example: https://www.getmailbird.com/setup/access-yahoo-es-via-imap-smtp

I mean 'correo' does translate as 'mail'.

Can you see if changing the server settings to imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com (as per info at links given previously) using Oauth for Authentication Method gets you access to your emails.

Changing server setting to imap.mail.yahoo.com resulted in a time-out when trying to download mail on Thunderbird. In the account settings it is actually specified to be a POP Mail Server. Changing again to pop.mail.yahoo.com resulted in Thunderbird asking to log into webmail, thereby updating password. After doing this it was possible to switch incoming server 'Authentication Method' to 'Oauth2' and it worked. In order to find the option 'Oauth2' under 'Authentication Method' for the SMTP servier it was necessary to change it from smtp.correo.yahoo.es to smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Kind of weird. I'll try to reproduce it on a colleagues mail, as she asked me to adjust Thunderbird on her computer for yahoo's new requirements, too. I hope this will indeed satisfy yahoo's new requirements for the authentication method, and I'll be able to receive mails after the dead-line 20th of October.

re :For a POP account - Changing server setting to imap.mail.yahoo.com resulted in a time-out You cannot change a POP account to use an imap server setting. It will not work. The two different types of account need to use the specific server settings based on type of account - POP or IMAP.

I did not know you were using POP as the posted images only mentioned smtp, so I supplied info for IMAP (as usually most people are using Imap), so I'm sorry if it caused some confusion.

It's good to hear all is now sorted and Thankyou for posting your findings.
