Hello! After various problems with my MacBook I had to delete everything from my hard drive. After installing BigSur 11.2.3 and restoring things from my TimeMachine backup all my Firefox bookmarks got lost. I understood how I can restore them but I don't know what file to look for in the TimeMachine backup that should contain my bookmarks... I would also like to restore my passwords if possible. Anyone can help?

Note that in Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the "~/Library" folder in the Home directory is a hidden folder.

Hi veronika.md, your Firefox identified itself as version 78, which could either be the Extended Support Release or a newer version of Firefox with privacy.resistFingerprinting enabled. Do you know whether you are running the identical version of Firefox you were running before?

Did you restore the entire Firefox folder from the Time Machine backup, or only selected files?

I run Windows myself, but the path to the Firefox folder on Mac usually is here:

~/Library/Application Support/Firefox

Thanks a lot for your replies!!

@FredMcD: Unfortunately I didn't find this: places.sqlite : History and Bookmarks.

@jscher2000: I used to have the version 78.7.1, now it's 78.8.0esr. The thing is, strangely I couldn't find any Firefox folders in my TimeMachine backup. I found some Mozilla folders but they don't open and cannot be imported. In the Application Support there is also no Firefox.

I'll go through it all again and see.

Thank you so much anyway for your fast replies and suggested solutions!!

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.
