So, I recently had to have my PC repaired. Before sending it in (which ended in a factory reset) I exported all my saved login data to a .csv file. Now, I already changed the setting to allow it to import from a file, but when I select that specific file for import, and hit the button.... nothing happens.

No passwords imported, no popup like I've seen in so many other posts about this issue, no nothing.

How do I fix this? I need to get it operational ASAP without manually copying every single log in. from the plaintext file.

The Import recently became broken, maybe in version 105. Unfortunately, it's not fixed yet.

You could do a custom installation of the Extended Support Release of Firefox 102 into a different program folder, import the file there, then transplant both logins.json and key4.db from that profile to your Firefox 106 profile. Or use Sync. Apologies that I don't have time to go into detail on these steps right now.

That sounds very complicated.

Is there an ETA on a fix?

Some work was done on it a couple weeks ago, but I can't tell what is holding it up. Maybe someone else has more updated information.

Importing a CSV login file via the about:logins page is still broken in current Firefox releases. You can temporarily set security.allow_eval_in_parent_process = true on the about:config page to bypass this security measure and make importing work if you are willing to take the risk. Make sure to reset the pref to false after you are done importing the CSV file (you can leave the about:config page open).
