crash reporter constantly popping up though firefox is not open

Firefox crash reporter keeps coming up even though I do not have the browser open. It is coming up several times a day every day.

I tried doing a reinstall of firefox but no change.

How can I stop this from happening? Is there a way to totally disable the crash reporter app?

I'm having the exact same problem! Firefox isn't even running (double-checked through Windows Task Manager) and every day there appears another handful of Crash Reporter boxes. Uninstall/reinstall did nothing to cure the problem.
