I am currently helping to develop a mobile site and it is very useful to view firefox in a smaller, windowed mode to emulate a mobile screen. The problem is when I try and use F11 to toggle hiding of the taskbars - it automatically makes the window full screen.

I know I could just manually hide the taskbars, but having to remove and then add them continually is a laborious process. Is there any way of using F11 whilst in a windowed, non-full screen mode?

No, F11 forces Firefox to Maximize.

Use View > Toolbars and un-check all your Toolbars to hide them. Then use the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu bar so you can access the View menu item and be able to access the Toolbars menu item to un-hide your Toolbars when you're done.

You can use the Autohide extension in zombie mode to remove the chrome and keep the current window size. Pref: extensions.autohide.zombieMode -> true
