I have a paid subscription to Ancestry.com. I have the Ancestry Enhanced Image Viewer that was working fine in Firefox 3.x (the last version of 3).

Now in version 4 of Firefox, the viewer locks up Firefox 4. The window that opens to save the image to your computer comes up, but then Firefox 'freezes' and won't allow me to enter a filename to save the image. I have to use 'cntl-alt-del' to shut down Firefox. I have to go to IE8 to get the image.

A similar problem is happening with my PDF statements from my bank opening in a separate window to view or safe. Worked fine in Firefox 3.x, does not work at all in Firefox 4. (I and others have reported this.) I have to use IE8 for that task also. Really annoying since any site that uses PDFs in a new window (for instance, Missouri Death Records PDFs ) will not work. I am using the current Adobe Reader X which used to work in Firefox 3.x.

I HATE having to use IE8, but Firefox 4 does not seem to be ready for 'prime time.' And you're going to push out Firefox 5 in June!??! Slow down and fix what ya broke first.

Thanks, Sandy

The problem is not with Firefox, it is with the Ancestry enhanced image viewer. Ancestry need to update their plugin to work with Firefox 4. In their system requirements they only list the enhanced image viewer as being compatible with Mozilla Firefox 3.x

Hmmm... the software breaks the plug in that was working - but it is not the fault of the software. Huh.

So - what about the Adobe PDF not working. Adobe's fault?

This is a firefox problem even in firefox 5 - I get this behavior with bank sites. I don't with IE.
