My home computer failed in downloading the latest Firefox update. Apparently the executable file won't work because Firefox won't even come up on my screen. Can I replace the .exe file with one from a CD and fix this problem? Thanks James Graves
I was attempting to download an updated version of Firefox. After an extended time, the download updating message become non-responsive. Now, after double-clicking on the Firefox shortcut, the hourglass symbol comes on for a few seconds then nothing happens. even after two hours. The task manager indicates that the firefox.exe file is active, but obviously unable to get firefox going.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
- Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
This may be a dumb question, but how can get onto the internet to download without Firefox working on my computer?
Don't you have any other browser on that computer?
Did you check your security software (firewall) to make sure that it isn't blocking the Firefox program?
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
