Sure, there are cookie options. But, I want to be able to individually allow ONLY certain cookies while refusing others when I exit Firefox. As it stands now, it seems you can only check a box that either allows or deletes cookies on exit. I use iGoogle as my home page and must have cookies permanently enabled in order to retain its settings. Of course, that means that undesirable cookies are also allowed to remain. I need *true* customization.

Hi Guys:

Thanks loads for your helpful suggestions. Hopefully, the Mozilla group will make cookie management much easier (perhaps one-click features) in the future.

Thanks again.

Hi,

You can add and Allow sites for which cookies need to be retained in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Privacy > Exceptions. eg. type in google.com and Allow. If the Settings button on the same tab is active, you would also have to make sure that Site Preferences is not selected in it.

Options > Privacy

To summarize:

Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"

Make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"

You can inspect and modify the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences" (Site Preferences includes the cookie exceptions)

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception.
