When I try to open Author Search in SCOPUS, it gives me the trying to open symbol, but nothing happens?
When I open SCOPUS and fill in the "Author Search" subprogram, the symbol indicates searching, but the search is never satisfied. I can access SCOPUS by way of Safari, but my default program is FireFox and I would like to know what the problem is. I have tried clearing the cache, but that doesn't help. I also have some problems with NCBI BLAST when I use FireFox but not when I use Safari.

Do you know if there is a free way to test this so a volunteer can take a look? If not, you might try submitting a support request after trying the below general advice.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Cache - you already did this part
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. After logging in again, any improvement?
If this problem just started in Firefox 23 and you use these databases on a secure (HTTPS) connection, you might check for a mixed content issue. This article describes the mixed content blocking issue in more detail: Mixed content blocking in Firefox
To see whether one of your extensions might be the problem, you could try the sites in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)
Any difference?
