Can I delete my old Firefox sync account if I have a new one which uses the same email address?
Hello,
I have unlinked all my devices from an old sync account and setup a new sync. In this process I have used the same email address as before. I have no use of my old sync account, therefore the question is: Can I delete the old sync account (via https://account.services.mozilla.com/ ) and - implicitly - all data associated with it without affecting my new Firefox account (and its data) in any way?
Thank you!

Even if you use the same email address the two syncs the old one and the new one are separate. As long as you are certain all your devices are using the new sync then the old one is no longer required.
Here is the main help article on the new sync
- Sync your Firefox bookmarks, history, passwords and more
- https://wiki.mozilla.org/Identity/Firefox-Accounts
- The methods used to identify you and verify details are rather complicated, with the old Sync using the pairing codes as explained in detail in these blogs about sync's cryptography

https://blog.mozilla.org/warner/2014/05/23/the-new-sync-protocol/ - An easier read about the new sync https://blog.mozilla.org/services/2014/02/07/a-better-firefox-sync/
And more techie information https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-auth-server/wiki/onepw-protocol
- This applies to the new Sync
Why can't I sync my passwords?
This is a security issue, and may be overcome in some later version of Firefox or Sync. It is one reason some users may stay on the old Sync. The two versions offer slightly different features relating to how and what they sync.

Yes you can https://services.mozilla.com/delete-account/ and put in your username and password, and hit permanently delete your account. I personally wouldn't you never know if you may need it in the future.
Well, of course I can delete the account. This was not the issue here and your reply doesn't really answer my question. My concern was regarding the integrity of the new account and its data. Could you please give me some more details regarding that?
Thank you!
