Hi. I noticed since the last update of firefox that it has become extremely slow. I used a few benchmarks (eg http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/LiteBrite/ ) which confirmed that firefox was about twice as slow as chrome on the same machine, even though it was always the same before. I have gone through all the support suggestions, removing addons, deleting my profile, making a new one, completely uninstalling and reinstalling firefox but the result was always the same. The only thing that fixed my problem was reverting to 30.0, and now firefox is properly responsive and the benchmarks match Chrome as they should. So I'm ok for now but I know its inadvisable to run old versions for security reasons, so is there anyway I can make the latest version of firefox run properly? Thanks.

What add ons you have installed with firefox?problem might be because of the add ons installed.

I tried a completely fresh install with no add ons and the results were the same, so this is not the issue

I see that hardware acceleration is disabled.

gfx.direct2d.disabled: True
layers.acceleration.disabled: True

Do you have a problem when it is enabled?

people have the same problem as me but I see no solutions, the slowness is really annoying!!....and all the time I have been blaming Verizon!! Maybe time for Chrome.!!
