I had to clear and restore my Macbook Pro and when I installed Firefox the drop down Bookmark menu is gone. I have the same version of Firefox on two computers and one has the drop down menu and this one doesn't. How do I get it back?

1)click firefox button (top right) 2)if you see "bookmarks", then click "customize" and go for step 4 3) click "customize" and than locate "bookmarks" in "additional tools and features" 4)drag and drop to place you want 5)click "exit customize" to save changes

"Bookmarks" does not appear when I click the firefox button nor does it appear in additional tools and features. So I am unable to apply the suggested solution.

Do you mean the star on the location/address bar to bookmark the current page?

You can try to click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
  • View > Toolbars
Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
  • check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup

I have the star and it is working fine. After restoring my computer today I no longer have the drop down bookmark list (sites I have bookmarked). To get to my bookmarks is now a two step process. I am using the same version on two macbooks and the other one has the drop down list that I had on this computer this morning. I want to restore that list to make it so much more convenient to go to my bookmarked sites.

I'm still not sure what bookmark list you are talking about.

Can you give more details what you click on the computer that is working?

Do you still have the menu bar on top?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (on Mac press Command+Shift+F to toggle).

When I hit the Icon for my bookmarks, the one that looks like a page with lines, I get a drop down window that shows "show all bookmarks, view bookmarks sidebar, subscribe to this page," and 6 other choices. That is not what I want. This morning before the clean and restore, when I clicked this icon a complete list of my bookmarks would drop down and I would just scroll to the one I wanted and click. This convenient list is what I get on our other Macbook with the same version of Firefox....35.0.1. I want it back on this computer, too, since this is the one I use most.

Is that the icon (drop marker) that is positioned to the right of the star on the Navigation Toolbar?

If you click Bookmarks on the menu bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help) at the top then you get the bookmarks menu with the choices that you mention.

Yes, that is the icon. I don't want the choices that I mentioned. That is what I get now. That is not what I got earlier today but get now after I reinstalled Firefox. What I want is a list of my bookmarks, ie, Foxnews, Netflix, USAA Bank, etc. This morning when I hit that icon all my bookmarks appeared in a nice list. Now that list is no longer there but I get the box with the choices I mentioned earlier. I want to click on that icon and get all of my bookmarks in one nice list. That is what I had 12 hours ago. I refreshed Firefox and that hasn't helped. I know they are there because when I click on "recently bookmarked, recent tags, unsorted bookmarks" they show up.
