I can go to any site that has embedded video. When viewing that page, the video shows that "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed." "Reload to try again." So, the video will not play. It will not stream on the site (which they should and do in other browsers for me) and they also do not play if I click the video link to go to YouTube.

Reloading does nothing. I have the Shockwave Flash addon for Firefox. It is on, active and version 22.0 r0.

What's more confusing...if I take the link that opens when I click to view the video and then go to youtube directly (www.youtube.com) and search for the same video, all the videos play fine.

I've also tried my backup browser (Chrome) and it works fine in all instances. So this appears to be somehow related to the addons for Flash with Firefox.

I wonder whether this is caused by the YouTube Flash Player extension. It overrides the normal YouTube HTML5 video player somehow, including on embedded videos. Have you tested with allowing HTML5 video, if the extension gives you the option to switch back and forth?

I downloaded that app, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried the default (flash) and changed to HTML5 in the app and revisited the pages I've been experiencing difficulty. Now it tells me "Playback isn't supported on this device".

Keeping in mind I am on a PC desktop. It's relatively new (a couple of months old) so all I've done is install Firefox as my browser and add a couple of add ons.

Whoops, I wasn't suggesting installing something new. You shared your add-on list when you posted your question (next to your question on the right side, Question Details > More System Details) so that's why I thought you might want to try adjusting its settings. In fact, you might want to try disabling it on the Add-ons page if it prevents YouTube from automatically adapting to your system.

What do you get on the YouTube test page:

https://www.youtube.com/html5

Typically with Windows Vista-7-8-8.1-10, the first 5 boxes are blue and the last one is red.

I disabled all the Flash addons and it works. I guess I assumed I needed a Flash addon for the flash stuff to work in the first place. Thanks for the help.
