I have students submitting files to me that must be downloaded for commenting and then returned to them. These files are often in different formats (doc, docx, txt, etc.) but are often named identically (e.g., Writing Assignment.docx) even if I tell students to put their name on them. I need to be able to download these files in a way that firefox will prompt me to change the name "Writing Assignment.docx" to "Student name - Writing Assignment.docx" each time I download one of their submissions. Right now I only have the option to open the file or to save it to a specific location. I do not have the option to download it as a newly-named file. I am currently running the most recent version of firefox (49.0) and Windows 10 x64.

Thank you

In most cases, there is a setting that can prompt you to choose a location and file name each time you download a file.

To enable this, go to the Firefox options. In the General tab, check Always ask me where to save files under the Downloads section.

This should give you the behavior that you are looking for.

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for these changes to take effect.

This works great. I didn't think to do that since I was happy with it being saved in the Downloads folder so it wasn't necessary to change where to save the file--only what to name it when it was saved. This gives me that ability even if the option makes no indication such is the case. Thank you for replying so quickly!
