After the last update whenever I restart Firefox my Homepage has been changed to "Mozilla Homepage". I then go through the process of changing it back which works perfectly when Firefox is running but when I close Firefox and then re-open it the Homepage has been changed. Is there a cure for this apart from uninstalling Firefox and using Google Chrome ?

Hi jonial, what is the address of that home page? If it's not shown in the address bar, you can extract that using the Page Info dialog. Either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, then the General icon

To copy the address, you can triple-click it to select it fully then use either Ctrl+c or right-click > Copy.

Hi jscher2000 The address of the page is :- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/page-info-window-view-technical-details-about-page?eu=1&redirectlocale=en-US&as=u&redirectslug=Page+Info+window&utm_source=inproduct#General

This appears to be the default home page. I have tried various suggested solutions but my prefered homepage which is www.google.co.uk does not get saved but is overwritten by Firefox

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Hi jonial, it seems you somehow ended up in a help article. I'm attaching a screen shot of the built-in Firefox home page and how its address appears in the Page Info dialog. Is that the one you're getting?

If you go the Options page when this happens, what is your startup setting? For example, is your home page erased and Firefox shows the italic placeholder text shown in the attached screenshot?

In that case, please see the article I mentioned earlier listing possible explanations for your preferences to get erased or rolled back between sessions: How to fix preferences that won't save.
