Firefox installs w/o Administrator priviledges
Hi -
I've seen this archived without a solution - so I'm bringing it up again.
We restrict our users from installing software on the workstations. I deploy them via SCCM as a managed item - this keeps us to standards and keeps out random software installs, etc. Firefox is the *only* program that they are able to install without Administrative access. When the installer runs - it prompts for Admin login. When "No" is selected to cancel it - it installs anyway. This is unacceptable. You don't get to bypass my security settings. As much as I am a fan of Firefox, and have been for years - behaving like this is what malware does, and really offends me.
It needs to stop in your next release.

Could you provide a link to the previous thread?
Suggestions made to support volunteers here often get buried in the crush of support requests. Have you considered raising this issue on the EWG mailing list to see whether this is a general need among ESR users or whether there is a known workaround? https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/

And you misunderstand a little bit - the issue isn't that they are installing ESR. This isn't an ESR issue, it's a Firefox issue. I have users who want to use Firefox as a browser - which is fine, and why I provide it - but they then download it and install it themselves, which I'm not ok with.

Thanks for the links. I see it has been this way for years.
The reason I suggested checking the mailing list was (A) you appear to be running ESR, and (B) if anyone knows/cares about this issue, it would be enterprise IT users.
Of course, whatever other people are using as a workaround probably would work for all Firefox releases and not be limited to ESR.
