Hello Guy.
First of all, and although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment as been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at www.getfirefox.com.
As for your issue, you may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Hello Morbus, I have Linux, Jaunty Jackelope 64 bit version. How can I update to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox? I'm not too computer literate, so I'll need an easy step by step guide to follow. Thanks for your help.
This should be what you need:

I have just updated to ubuntu 9.10 and updated to Firefox Namoroka 3.6.5pre but my browsing history still does not clear. Any suggestions?
Firefox 3.6.5 is in development and is not supported... Please use the latest stable version (where did you get the development version even?). You can get it for free at getfirefox.com.
I have now installed 3.6.3 but I still can't clear the browsing history. I got the 3.6.5. from the synaptic package manager.
Have you tried running Firefox in safe mode to disable all add-ons and see if that fixes the issue?
I ran firefox in safe-mode and now I can't watch videos, nor clear browsing history either. Can't update latest flash, even though I've followed all firefox instructions. Guy.
If you're running in safe mode with add-ons disabled, you won't be able to watch Flash videos, but HTML videos will still work (as those found in Wikipedia, for example).
You can go back to normal browsing. Can you please provide a screenshot of the whole window while you are trying to clear the browsing history?
Here you are. Guy.
Here's a screenshot of the add-ons. Guy.
I'm sorry, but I can't see the image. Are you sure you uploaded it correctly? Upload somewhere like http://imageshack.us/ if the image is larger that 200KB and post the link here.
here's a screenshot of the add-ons
here's the link for the add-ons: http://img59.imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img59/8748/screenshot1nf.png
I've managed to install the updated flashplater but the BBC IpPlayer doesn't work. Any suggestions? Guy.
Guy, I wanted a screenshot of the interface when you are trying to clear your browsing history. You know? The menu and all that, just as you are trying to clear it be it doesn't let you, I wanted that image.
Also, you have plenty more add-ons that that. Those are just the plugins. Extensions and themes are add-ons too.
The thing is, it does let me but nevertheless it doesn't clear the browsing history. Another strange thing: the icon I have is still for Namoroka pre-release (which I must have originally downloaded from an internet forum), yet when Firefox opens and I go to Help/About Mozilla Fox, it says I have Firefox version 3.6.3 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 GTB7.0). My videos etc now work, but I still can't watch anything on the BBC IPlayer. The mystery thickens!! Guy.
That's weird... Have you tried reinstalling Firefox? No data will be lost. Uninstall your current installation, download the latest version off http://getfirefox.com/ and install... It's weird that the pre-release icon is still there...
Here are some screen shots. Hope they're helpful in clearing up this mystery! Guy. http://my.imageshack.us/v_images.php
I've solved it! Browsing history clears, BBCIplayer works. All A ok! I went to ¡Google, removed web history and put it on pause. I have no idea why the BBC Iplayer now works and don't really care! Thanks for your patience with me Mobius. Guy.
