All of my saved passwords are gone. the password manager window is empty. i use the extension 'bookmark backup' to backup my saved passwords... key3.db cert8.db signons.sqlite signons3.txt and signons2.txt. i have one week worth of backups. i tried replacing those five files in my profile directory with each of the seven backups, and none of the backups will produce my passwords. i can see encoded information in signons3.txt but that file is very old and doesn't have my most recent saved passwords that the sqlite file has, so going back to that version is not an option.

hi, it seems i solved the problem by attempting to downgrade to 3.6.3 using synaptic. for some reason, instead of downgrading, it just uninstalled the following six packages:

firefox firefox-3.5 firefox-3.5-branding firefox-3.5-gnome-support firefox-branding firefox-gnome-support

then i went to try to install firefox again (it installed 3.6.8), but only the following two packages got installed:

firefox (3.6.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) firefox-branding (3.6.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1)

now all of my passwords are showing up again (phew!) guess it was just a botched upgrade or something....

Do not need to do all that...

After UPDATE... You simply close your Firefox and open it again (restart) and you will see password manger fixed!

yes I was also worried to see my passwords gone after updating to 3.6.8 but when I restarted by FireFox wow everything is back and normal even at 3.6.8.

I am posting this for future reference..anyone facing same problem..do not need to uninstall/reinstall.... simply close all Firfox windows and open again and it is fixed.
