Only show typed URLs in Address Bar

Would anyone know how to configure Firefox 6 so that it only shows the URLs I manually typed in when I view the Address bar drop-down menu or use the auto-complete feature? It would be awesome if it shows me the most visited URLs on the top when I view the address bar drop-down menu.

I don't mind it storing the cache of websites I visited so that future visits to the same website are faster. But not a big deal if it can remove the history and only remember my typed in URLs. I want it to behave like other browsers.

You can retain all the features of the AwesomeBar by instead including a space delimited tildea ("~") which would show you only the typed urls, and without you would get everything normal.

I think one of the main problems is the 3 lines of rich text formatting to show what would be better as one line.

I prefer to retain the full facilities of the AwesomeBar by displaying more than the default and show them on single lines with the "oldbar" extension (2.0 KB download), and with the "Location bar limit" extension (3.1 KB download) showing Options (80 results, 30 visible).

Typed is high-ranking in frecency so if you pasted a url 3 times into the location bar that would really boost its rating and you'd hardly ever have to do that often once you have a good history base.

Changing about:config variables such as browser.urbar.default.behavior is described in

http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries
  1. type in about:config into the location bar (in a new tab)
  2. if the warning message nonsense comes up uncheck the box before dismissing the dialog message
  3. filter on urlbar.
  4. right-click on browser.urbar.default.behavior and choose "modify" then type in new value of 32

You can also type a '~' to only see typed URLs in the drop down list or one of the other filter keys to see other selections (e.g. % shows all open tabs)
