Firefox keeps crashing without a sessionrestore option once I restart

In the last few months, Firefox keeps crashing and I lose all my history and the ability to session restore. Yesterday (or the day before), it crashed then -did- sessionrestore successfully in the usual automatic way, asking me upon its launching, "This is embarrassing...". (Going to History, I only see Today. And, Restore Previous Session is always greyed out.)

I am using Firefox 20.0.1, and Windows 7. I routinely have "tons" of tabs open, but given my recent greyed out sessionrestores, I was down to only (hehe) about 40-50, most of which weren't loaded; I set them not to do so until accessed.

I have done the Reset Firefox option 2-3 times lately, which did not work for this, obviously.

Two questions: 1. Is there a way for me to find my session from its recent successful sessionrestore? That would help a lot. 2. What other things can I try to stop this madness?(!)

Also, I just installed FEBE, and now cannot find how to set it up for making backups of my browser history, restarted FF after installing it, again had no systemrestore option. And, following FEBE's instructions to go to Tools, well, I see no "Tools" in my Firefox dropdown menu. Where is Tools?

Thanks so much. Hours and hours, and I'm just where I began, yet more frustrated. Thanks for your help.... anyone? Anyone?  ;)

EDIT: I found the FEBE stuff, not in this mysterious "Tools" section but instead here: in Firefox - Backup Utilities - FEBE - And the various drop down options, there, including: Perform Backup - Upload contents of last backup directory [with further dropdown] - Restore [with further dropdown] - Restore (from online backup) - Restore Profile - Quick Backup - FEBE Options.

If anyone has tips for my FF retaining its ability to give me a restoresession capability upon crash restarts, please do let me know.

Thanks so much!
