Firefox only uses hardware acceleration on videos if in fullscreen mode, why ? and is it possible to force it to enable when it's not in fullscreen ?
I've noticed that since i upgraded to Windows 8.1 and the new Firefox that when i play videos in a normal window inside a website, the video has looks slow and "chopy" like a game with low FPS. But once i hit the fullscreen everything looks and sounds good.
I've monitored my CPU and GPU when playing videos both in normal window and in fullscreen and i noticed that in normal window CPU usage goes up to 100% and in fullscreen goes down and the GPU goes up. So i suppose thats a hardware acceleration issue.
Is there anyway to force HA even if not in fullscreen? If so, how, please ?
THanks in advance.

Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
- Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
- Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
- Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
- Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
- Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
- Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
- Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.
Tks for the reply guigs2!
But the point of this topic, is to force hardware acceleration to be enable when not in fullscreen mode, because it works perfectly in fullscreen. If i disable that marker in the Adobe Flash Player Settings, videos dont work at all in normal window, and when in fullscreen i get big black borders on top and bottom of the video and screen tearing over the video playing.
So I really need that marker to be checked, so i can atleast enjoy videos on fullscreen, but it gets really anoying when you have to fullscreen every video, and some videos dont even have the option to fullscreen, and i just cant watch them at all...
I just dont get it, why the hardware acceleration isnt working when not in fullscreen...
Thanks again.
