Firefox 34 crashes on startup (in safe mode too)
Ubuntu 14.10, "Mozilla Firefox 34.0". It has started crashing on it's own without any new tabs or sites being opened. It doesn't even run in "safe-mode".
When I run FF, it shows the main window and if try to restore my tabs, it crashes. Even without restoring, if I click on the "Open menu" icon (top right corner), it still crashes. Not sure if it's a Gtk issue. I tried downgrading to FF 33 and that was crashing even without showing the main window.

Here's the latest one (this is of a fresh FF install, i.e after doing apt-get purge firefox && apt-get install firefox), so no add-ons installed, no tabs to restore etc, just a fresh start:

Also, the crash happens with the pre-built binary too (FF 35 that I downloaded from the website)
The above are listed in chronological order, latest -> oldest
The crash report flagged these programs;
libdconfsettings.so = Unknown
libgio-2.0.so.0.4200.1 = GLIB ? ?
libglib-2.0.so.0.4200.1 = GLIB ? ?
Looks like these libs have their debug symbols missing. So what?
Take this crash report eg: bp-4197fe3a-3806-41ea-9cf6-35c702150115. This just happened a few minutes ago...with FF running a single tab for a few minutes and no interaction from my side (I' working on Chrome now).
The crashing thread only has ld-2.19.so in it's trace. Isn't there a more helpful trace that shows what the browser was doing when it crashed?
I tried to find out what programs used those files, but could not find anything in my search. I did call the Big Guys to help you.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites.
Ok. Dunno if it's an Ubuntu problem or an FF one. Will probably raise a bug in ubuntu bugzilla too.
Thanks BTW!
The crash seemed to have stopped after enabling apparmor.
I'm running ubuntu 14.10 with systemd (208) as init and it seems that apparmour was 'disabled' (this was also preventing my lxc containers from starting-up). Once I enabled and started apparmor, the crash no longer happens. I'll monitor the situation for a little more time before concluding apparmor was the issue.
