How do I change the default address book?
I want my default to be my Google Contacts but every dam time I try to save a contact to my address book Thunderbird stupidly keeps adding to the default "Personal Address Book" no matter what I do. I am sick and tired of having to drag the contact out of the default address book and into Google Contacts. What do I have to do to force Thunderbird to stop using the Personal Address Book?
I do not want the Personal Address book because it's not synced to the cloud. It can go straight to the recycle bin for all I care but Thunderbird won't even let me delete the dam thing, apparently it's afraid that if i did delete it it wouldn't know how to deal with contacts. Stupid thing.

No, the Personal Address Book is hard wired. :-(
If adding a Contact from a message, I right-click the white star to add them to the Address Book. I then click the star (which is now yellow) again and select Edit. Then it lets you select the preferred address book.
If you have a lot of Contacts to harvest, try the Email Address Crawler add-on.
Thanks for trying Zeno. I already knew about that trick with tapping the star twice but that isn't the same thing as changing the default.
Mozilla will you please find a way to fix this already? From what I've read this had been a known issue for years.
I use an addon called 'MoreFunctionsForAddressBook'
click on the From header email address to see drop down 'Save Recipients addresses' > 'as contacts (all)' This does give you the option to choose an address book for that contact. click on OK
I know it still does not offer setting a default other than 'Personal Address Book, but it does work very well.
I am probably going to quit using Thunderbird because I can't sync my G contacts with Thunderbird Address Book. I tried the Add On described in this article, but ended up losing all my TB addresses. The only thing causing me hesitation now is finding a good Task Manager software. Does anyone have a recommendation?
