Hi, suggest empty cookies, clear cache

Here are the usual suggestions:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu)-- > Options -->

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

Options --> Security & Privacy-- > "Manage Data"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
• Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

You can get a "Corrupted Content Error" error if there are multiple location redirects send via the HTTP response headers. Firefox doesn't allow this for security reasons.

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

Found:

• Bug 1495275 - Corrupted Content Error for Gmail

That bug report seems to indicate that this happens if you downgrade a profile that has been used with a newer Firefox version and might be caused by a corrupted Service Worker.

Firefox has the about:serviceworkers page where you can check registered Service Workers.

I was having the same problem until i signed into hangouts and it hasn't happened since. Maybe being signed out of hangouts is causing some kind of conflict with GMail. Back o not working. So this is not the problem.

Turning off Avast's webshield does not solve the problem. Should i downgrade my operating system to Windows95 so it works? It seems like the more time that goes by the more websites are broken. What kind of coders are being hired? Coders who barely passed? I can't believe that this hasn't been resolved or that they even have a clue to what is causing it. This has happened multiple times over the last few years and you would think they learned from all the previous problems.

If it pleases you, do so. You might test a c.1995 system's ability to work with a complex 2019 web app.

I think not. Was Corrupted Content Error when opening GMail reported by anyone before 2018?

Unable to open Gmail with same error message "The site at https://mail.google.com/mail/ca/u/0/#inbox has experienced a network protocol violation that cannot be repaired."

Clearing cache and starting in safe mode resulted in same error message.

Verified files and directories against a clean install with minimal discrepancies.

Went to storage directory (my portable install - c:\Firefox64_Porte\Data\profile\storage\default\ and deleted the directory https+++mail.google.com.

Restarted firefox and was able to open Gmail.
