How to restore old data/bookmarks etc. through disc image
How can I get my settings and bookmarks from a cloned image of my old HDD. This is pretty annoying and making me think about leaving Mozilla. I've done what a support page advised and copied my data from one 'profile folder' (from the image) to another (internal drive). Not helping and displaying a 'The bookmarks and settings will not function properly' error message. I did not unfortunately create a proper backup prior to transferring drives so can't restore that way, assumed that things would more or less be a seamless sync through my Firefox account.
Would appreciate help here thanks.

Update: Think I've done it!!!!!!!!!! Located profiles in Users/AppData of the image instead of program files and scrummaged around for the right one, then created profile and set as profile directory - opened in new window - bazinga. Even remembers my previous open tabs. Good stuff, thanks...

Were there problems with Firefox on that older drive that might have caused that some files to get corrupted ?
You were able to locate the last used profile folder on that cloned image ?
Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>
The error message you reported might indicate that there are problems with places.sqlite.
Note that you can transfer bookmarks by restoring a recent backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them
@cor-el not that I know of it is more likely a problem with the disc image (not great software). I am able to locate it (opened FF and clicking Help >> Troubleshooting information >> Open profile folder). I copied _everything_ over from this folder to my drive.
I could maybe try to make a backup there but evening opening FF on the mounted image does not show bookmarks and settings.
Update: I have managed to restore my bookmarks through the automatic bookmark back ups in my hard drive. Now just hoping to restore my settings, history, and the rest of my data. Thanks
