This behavior just started today. When I click on a folder (GMail sub-folder) Thunderbird instantly marks everything in the folder as read.

I have disabled the "automatically mark messages as read" option but this has not changed the behavior.

I'm running v78.6 on Windows 10. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

when you select an IMAP folder Thunderbird updates the status with the server. This is particularly relevant for things like spam as they are not normally updated at all. But if you have mail being accessed in another device Phone or tablet usually. Some android email apps particularly routinely mark the messages downloaded as read on the server at the time of download. Selecting the folder in Thunderbird will then update the "status" in Thunderbird to match the server. So my guess is you are looking for setting in the mail app on another device.

This is not correct. I am not using another device to view my mail.

Again, this behavior just changed yesterday.
