Since some month Firefox cannot download correct .zip or .bz2 files. When open these files 7zip says that there is "data after payload". When do sha256sum on such a file it is not correct (of course not). Today it happens again with Apache http: first line is Firefox-downloaded file and second line the correct sha256 from Apache-website. 2bda6210b50ed89d852bfc8c00140deab29f43f63f0e4098a60e0a066e5fb7e1 httpd-2.4.58.tar.bz2 fa16d72a078210a54c47dd5bef2f8b9b8a01d94909a51453956b3ec6442ea4c5 *httpd-2.4.58.tar.bz2

It is possible that (anti-virus) security software is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

Thank You for the quick response. Unfortunately I can't disabled any security software at this enterprise PC. Such software / backgroud services completley under control by the IT deparment. (As I wrote, Google chrome at the same PC works correct. MS Edge, too.)

Installed now a second Firefox - Windows 32-bit, English (US), Firefox Setup 118.0.2.exe - and with this version the Apache http download worked! Sound like a problem with my "Enterprise Version" 115.3.1esr (64-bit).

FWIW downloading with 115.3.1esr on Windows 10 gives me the correct sha256 checksum for httpd-2.4.58.tar.bz2.

Try changing secure DNS over HTTPS (DoH) to "Off" or "Increased Protection" and in Connection Settings change "Use system proxy settings" to "No proxy".

Changed both, no success. I did a "od -h" on the wrong and on the correct file, there You can see the "extra" load at the end.
