For years, I've used TB to keep all my e-mail communication in my own computer. Since our local provider (Frontier) switched over to Yahoo, I had to change my server info to IMAP (yahoo), and I can no longer view any of my old e-mails. Is there a way to access these? I have MANY that are related to my business. Thanks!

Please provide details on the accounts, such as POP or IMAP, and whether you created new accounts. Details are vital. Thank you.

I was using a POP account for years.... but our server switched to Yahoo, and I had to change my settings to the IMAP format. Hoping I can still have a second account using the POP address so I can keep all my e-mails on my computer. I currently have several e-mails to answer..... but can't get to them!

if the email address is the same and the messages are NOT on the IMAP server, they must have been downloaded to the POP account prior to switching to IMAP. That means they are either on your PC or are gone. That is, if you deleted the POP account prior to setting up the IMAP account, you may have deleted the messages, depending on whether you ticked the box to keep the data. If nothing is visible from Thunderbird, you could still check in windows file explorer to be sure. Here are the steps for that:

  1. click help>troubleshootinginformation
  2. scroll down to 'profile folder' in left column and select 'open folder'
  3. exit thunderbird
  4. you are now in the profile. click the Mail folder to see if any POP remnants are there and also the Mail\Local Folder. If unsure, please post screenshot of what you see.

If I am misunderstanding the issue, just let me know.
