Can anyone tell me how to get my online banking institution to recognize my computer when I am using Firefox? I have to enter my security question every time I log on to my account even though I click on the box that states remember this computer.

Contact your banking institution to make sure that their online site works with current versions of Firefox. It might not.

You can also look through this related topic, in case it helps: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/29565 Cookie problem with online banking

Thanks for your input. I have a call into the bank now. I also tried changing some of the settings for cookies and that did not help. Hopefully someone at the bank can solve this annoying problem.

Hi, akirtleys

When your bank gets back to you, could you post back with the outcome and (if you don't mind) the name of the online banking institution? Hopefully, it may help someone else.

Alice, the bank got back with this reply. "Here's the article I was referring to that discuses cookies in good detail with Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies

I went to that link but did not find anything that seemed to fit. The bank is United Bank and Trust.

Can you enter that website in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode?

To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history You can enter Private Browsing mode if you select: [[X] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session" That will temporarily give you a fresh set of cookies. If you remove that check-mark then your current cookies will be restored and you leave Private Browsing mode. --- You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems See [[Basic Troubleshooting|#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting:Make a new profile]] There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files) See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
