Firefox changes password automatically after typing from upper case to lower case. How to change this?

I have to correct myself: Firefox switches from upper case to lower case after I typed the user name and when I try to enter the password. It seems to accept the user name only in lower case. But at the one site where it happens the login is only possible if user name is in capital letters. No problems with windows explorer.

Make sure that you haven't saved Uppercase and Lowercase versions of that name and password.

Remove saved Password(s): Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

I'm finding that if you have a user name saved, in lower case, but then you attempt to enter a similar text in mixed or upper case - FF will automatically select the saved lower case version.

This is a bug in my view.

The saved user name should only be used if I explicitly select it. As it is now once the user name is saved I can't ever use a similar string of different case.

ps. for what it's worth, Chrome has correct behavior in this case
