Can't open .pdf's in FF4.o or in FF3.6 with plug in?

When running FF3.6 on my Mac OS X 10.5.8 I figured out how to view .pdfs in the browser using a plug in. This worked fine.

Then when prompted I "upgraded" to FF4.0 and lost the .pdf view capability. Also then found out a plug in was not available for 4.0. {Perhaps upgrade is poorly used in this context.}

Saw a posting about reinstalling FF3.6 which I did no problem. However installed the .pdf plug in but still no viewing available.

Any suggestions? Otherwise I'm going to have to go back to Safari as my default browser.

Hi Flanders1:

I have the same thing in FF4.0. PDFs would 'download' instead of open. After much searching, trial and error I went to an Adobe page at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/328/328233.html

I did the following from that page and it worked for me:

Deselect and then reselect the Display PDF In Browser preference In Adobe Reader or Acrobat, choose Edit > Preferences. Select Internet. Deselect Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK. Then 'Select'it again- Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet, select Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.

Make sure you close FF and relaunch and then try clicking a PDF link. If it still doesn't work, go to that Adobe help page above to try other solutions.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the input. However reading through the linked page it appears like this solution is for Windows and not Mac. The described solution does not equate to Mac's OS X environment.

Thanks again though for trying.
