How do I make Firefox's Google search box search the suggested terms I select?

When I type a term into Firefox's Google search bar, suggestions appear below the search box that match what I'm typing. When I click on the suggestion that matches what I'm searching for nothing happens. It doesn't automatically search the suggested term that I clicked. It sits there with my half typed search term in the search box. It stays that way with every new word/phrase/term that I search. Suggested terms never register once I click on them. I have to type my search term out in it's entirety and hit enter every time.
