How Do I Go Back to Version 3.6?
Hi
I an having a variety of fairly random problems with 4.0: Google search drop-down selections not selecting, Netflix streaming movies crashing (sometimes causing my entire system to freeze irrevocably), very slow page loading, webpages simply not loading, etc, etc.
None of these problems occurred with 3.6, so I'd like to roll back at least until 4.x becomes more stable. 1) Where do I find the last 3.6.x release for download? 2) How do I ensure that my settings/preferences will be present in the "new" 3.6 install? 3) Do I need to do anything to ensure that my addons are compatible with 3.6?
Regarding 4.0: 4) My version shows as 4.0. Does this mean no changes have been made since the original 4.9 release, or does Mozilla ever release any small automatic upgrades or hotfixes that don't advance the version number? 5) What is the difference between addons and extensions? I don't think I have any extensions - is there a way to check? 6) Is there a list of addons or extensions that are known to have problems with 4.0?
Thanks, Chris

(1) & (2) You can download 3.6.last from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older but you raise a very good question about not losing your settings/preferences (e.g., bookmarks). You might want to search here for advice on that question. And of course, make a backup for safekeeping: Backing up your information.
(5) & (6) Extensions are one kind of add-on (others are themes, userscripts, and more). The Tools > Add-ons dialog should show you which of your previously installed Firefox 3.6 extensions are NOT compatible with Firefox 4, but I'm not aware of a global list. There are a huge number of extensions, many of which fall by the wayside over time as better ones come along and as Firefox changes...
