go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"

Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. You can enable the Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

Did it, no change. Updated to latest ver-3.6.18, no change. Many others are complaining of the same issue, it's the FF software, it needs fix'n, NOT my PC.

more options

go to Tooles Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> place Checkmark on "Use Auto-Scrolling" -> Remove Checkmark from "Use Smooth Scrolling"

Check and tell if its working.

mha007__ I have done all those solutions before writing here. It's a matter of FireFox not allowing the scroll to work. THAT is the problem. . I'M STILL looking for my #3 button scroll to work, as stated by several others in other forums. . ODDLY,.... I'm not quite sure why PC users have to take steps backwards when software writers THINK they are making leaps forward. It seems like it's, "Just get the software out there, some will be able to use it, most not. As long a the software works for me, I don't care about anyone, just myself."

Have you by chance made any changes in the mouse software or did any updates for it recently?

more options

No changes to my mouse software before using FF. Uninstalled the mouse/reinstalled it, still not working. Uninstalled it and installed a different brand but same model WITH different drivers still not working. _ _ _ You see I have already tried all the possible scenarios on my end with this issue.

UPDATED to FF 5.0.1 _ _ _ Scroll still will not work. Off to find another browser that will. _ _ _ So odd FireFox will not work with it's customers.

At this point i would suggest making a Clean Uninstallation of your current version of Firefox. Before that I would suggest you to Backup your Bookmarks in any Local Drive other than Windows (C:\).

Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Exporting%20bookmarks%20to%20an%20HTML%20file

Now UNINSTALL Firefox. Search Firefox in your Windows drive (C:\) and DELETE all Firefox folders found in the search.

When you are done, Restart your computer and re-download Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/

Check and tell if its working.

Now you can Restore your Bookmarks from here:

Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File

I hate to sound like a broken record, DONE THAT ALREADY. _ _ _ I've ALSO learned to reboot after an uninstall then manually delete any residue in said uninstalled program. I've also gone as far as REGISTER searching for program residue and deleting that WITH reboot of coarse to be sure nothing has gone wrong. _ _ _ NEXT suggestion? I suggest FireFox fix there software. _ _ _ BY-THE-WAY,... I have also gone through my mouses buttton choices for my #5 button. Everything works but the "Auto-Scroll". One tab down/up/right/left works, one page down/up/left/right works. _ _ _ I used recently tried and successfully used the Auto-Scroll in Netscape, Opera, My Browser, Ace Browser, Chrome, and 2 others that escape my memory. _ _ _ PLEASE READ and understand this. >>> It's FireFox's software that is stopping this, not my mouse or PC.

Have you tried another mouse to rule things out ?

James . . . (quote) Uninstalled it and installed a different brand but same model WITH different drivers still not working. _ _ _ (end quote)

more options

Yes I saw that as it sounded like you were referring to drivers still and not physically tried a different mouse itself.

No Firefox version itself has yet had any problems with autoscroll feature like this.

If you keep marking my replies as not helpful then any new ideas or fixes I find, I may keep them to myself. We are volunteers here trying to hep you.

3 buttons _ _ HELPFUL - NOT HELPFUL and SOLVED, not sure why I can't hit the NOT HELPFUL since it didn't help. Why have them at all if your going to say that? _ _ I do appriciate the help but all that has been mentioned so far, I've already done tried. The mouse I use has been around a rather long time and I like it so much I bought 10. It's a 5 button 2 wheel mouse, there isn't a newer model to replace this. In all of my OS's I use it works 100%. All of the 1/2 dozen different browsers I've tried, it works 100% EXCEPT FireFox, no auto-scroll. _ _ Thanks for the input James.

CONTROL PANEL - MOUSE settings

Not sure what you're asking, there are a lot of settings. Which?

more options

If the mouse scroll wheel button isn't working then you need to check that setting.

more options

Close All open windows -> Open Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Wheel section -> select Radio Button option1 "The following number of lines at a time" -> enter a number e.g. 3 -> click OK

Mouse auto scroll wheel works in ALL other browsers but FireFox.

It is not the number of lines or the choice of cursor etc.

The problem is not my mouse, it is FireFox's software. _________________________________________

I appreciated everyone's input but untill FireFox fixes this I will not be using it. Internet Explorer will have to be the browser I must use since it allows my mouse to 100% work.

Updated to FFox 10.0, it's loaded, I rebooted, it's working, . . . well sort-a. AUTO-SCROLL STILL DOES NOT WORK!!! Somehow I guessed it wouldn't. All settings in FF are set for it to work. Once again I checked/unchecked/rechecked ALL possible settings in FF and my mouse. Uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse. . FF is the only browser my scroll will not work. Even every program I load, it works. Why is Mozilla being so obstinate on this? .
