When I rebooted my system, Firefox said that it was disabling my Norton antivirus. Why? And where can I find an update that Firefox will allow?

I updated iTunes, and when I rebooted my system and started Firefox, I received a message that Firefox was disabling my Norton security package! I didn't upgrade Firefox, and Norton has always worked with it. I do not understand what happened.

PLEASE HELP! I live and work in Firefox!

hello Mariesa91991, your core norton security product is still working and protecting your system - only the toolbar part that integrates into firefox got disabled. however this is easily solvable, please run symantec liveupdate to get the latest version of the toolbar from norton that is compatible with firefox 17: https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-17-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/853416

Hi madperson. Thank-you so much for clarifying that. I hope you are right, but FF didn't specifically state what part or parts of FF they were disabling. If this is what FF disabled (and you are right, it looks like Norton is still running to protect my system), then they need to do a better job with their messages!

Again, thank-you for your quick response to my message!
