I upgraded Mac to Maverick and some video and MIME types are not playing. They all work with Chrome and Safari. Can someone please help me resolve this issue?

I upgraded to Maverick on Mac. Several websites with streaming video now display "Video Format or MIME Type not supported." I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Flip4Mac. The streaming content plays fine on Chrome and Safari. Any idea what to do other than permanently switch to Chrome???

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Thank you for your response. Yes, Checking the plug-in update page was one of the first things I did. When I check the download site for F4M it shows version 3.2.0.16 as the current version. I download and install it, but my FF plugin is still 3.1.0.1 and it shows the latest update date as March 2013. I even tried to manually uninstall the 3.1 version but I cant seem to get rid of it and replace it with a newer one. Others have this problem as well as we are discussing it on the MozillaZine forum (Forum Thread Link)

I did download the user-agent-switcher and when i change the user agent to IE, it does work. But what's the point of doing that? If I want to use another browser I will just use Safari.

Can you give an example?

This can also happen when an audio or video tag is used to play a file with the built-in HTML media player and you do not have support for that media type.

Sure, here is an example: Live Duval Street Webcam

Obviously this is not a critical app or anything. It just bugs me that FF has been my browser of choice for years and everything worked fine until a recent upgrade. Now I am looking at all kinds of alternative work arounds, etc. Would be a lot easier just to switch to Safari!

I failed to mention.. i still do not understand why the current version of FF does not recognize the latest version of Flip4Mac downloaded. As mentioned earlier by me and others, on downloading the latest version it still fails to update and reverts to the previous version.

That is the Flash plugin that is used on the Live Duval Street Webcam page.
I got a notice to enable the Flash plugin and there is also an icon on the left end of the Navigation Toolbar.

Note that you can get a possibly colored Lego icon on the left end of the location bar that indicates that Firefox is blocking a plugin.

I have Shockwave Flash 11.9.900.152 installed and active. Plugin manager indicates it is up to date. I tested it on the Adobe website and it is current and working. The icon on the upper left of the FF too bar shows the Plugin is active.
