Configure Thunderbird to always delete messages off the server

I want Thunderbird to delete all messages off the server every time I open the program and collect messages. Specifically when I move a read message to a folder I do not want a copy of that folder or that message on the server. How does one accomplish that?

Where is the folder to which you move the message?

Move your messages to Local Folders in Thunderbird and they will be stored on your machine and removed from the folder.

My guess is that your account is set to use IMAP and you'd be more comfortable with POP.

Moving the things I want stored to the local folders and deleting the others seems to have done it. Thank you.
