Firefox doesn't play mp3 audio attachments in gmail / google drive, when I open it with Music Player for Google Drive it says "Your browser might not support this audio format". Everything works fine in Chrome or Safari at the same time. Then I downloaded the same mp3 file from Google Drive and uploaded it to my server and played with Firefox's native player - it worked just fine!

I use latest version of Firefox on Mac

to play a mp3 file without any plugin Firefox use "Direct-show" technology. If may be disabled in your Firefox that's why you are unable to play the mp3.

check your setting:

1)Open a new tab and type about:config in address bar then press enter.

Click on the button "I'll be careful, I promise!".

2)In the search box above the list type media and wait while the list is filtered.

3)Find media.directshow.enabled and check the value. If it is false make it true. Try to play from Google drive. Now it should work fine. :)

There's no such preference as media.directshow.enabled on mac... and my Firefox plays mp3 everywhere except gmail / google drive
