I'm having a lot of difficulty in trying to figure out how to use thunderbird to send attachments on my yahoo email account. I was told to set up a thunderbird account so I could scan and send documents from my yahoo email account. I don't believe my account it is set up right to do this. Specifically, how do I set up a thunderbird account so I don't keep getting the message: "there is no email client set up", when I try sending a scanned document to my yahoo email account. I was told to set up a POP? to be able to do this, and doing so with firefox thunderbird would suffice, so I could send scanned documents via my yahoo email account. Can anyone, in a simplistic way..... I'm sort of a computer novice, help me? Thank you.

Please follow the instructions on this page: How to Configure Mozilla Thunderbird for Yahoo! Mail and report back if it works.

tjohnson,

Thank you for your reply. But, I can't even get started with the instructions because I can't even access my settings page. When I click on the gear icon in Yahoo I don't get the listings I'm suppose to get according to the instructions. I've spent an hour just trying to get what I'm suppose to see with Yahoo, and I just can't do it!!! To say I'm frustrated would be an understatement! How can I access the yahoo info I need to proceed with the instructions. I can't find a settings link anywhere within my Yahoo account. When I do click on the gear icon, I get 3 options. Account info, which is no help, Help, that s a joke, and suggestions. I simply don't see any options for my settings like I'm suppose to. Can you somehow help?

I don't have a Yahoo account, so regrettably I can't help you further other than to say that I think you need to be logged in for the Settings option to appear. Another contributor should be able to provide a better answer.
