I can send e-mail but cannot recieve e-mail
I have tried logging into my cpanel (host gator) & using webmail. I had about 50 e-mails with "cron" but nothing I have sent as a test has come through. From Thunderbird I can send messages but not receive them.
Tried removing passwords & re-entering them in Thunderbird but no joy.
Thanks in advance for any help!

check this: If Windows OS Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account
If Linux OS there is a menu difference. Edit > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account or right click on mail account name in folder Pane and select : Settings then select: 'Server Settings' for the mail account
Confirm you have the following selected: Select: 'check for new messages on startup' select: 'check for new messages every eg:10 minutes' Select: 'Automatically download messages' click on OK
Please post this info:
In thunderbird
Help > Troubleshooting Information
click on 'copy text to clipboard' button
In this question, right click in a 'Post a Reply' box and select : Paste You can edit/remove all info on fonts and printers, but nothing else.
Then tell me: when you click on 'Get Messages' what happens? What do you see in the bottom status bar..connecting, connected etc? Do you get an error message, if yes, what does it say ...word for word?

Are you saying that test emails you sent via Thunderbird to your email address are not appearing in the webmail account? If yes, then tell me how you know you are able to send emails using Thunderbird.
re: cron What OS are you using ...Linux? I presume cron is a task scheduling program you use. when did you start using cron ?
Did the problem start after a thunderbird update?

Thanks for the reply.
Hope the above message was what you were looking for.
All the "check for new messages on startup" ect are fine.
When I click "get Mail" it just says (my email) connecting to "hostgatorserver" like it used to when it worked, or does nothing. Checking messages within a short time period it may be? i.e clicking get messages 10 seconds between.
- Just tried again & said it timed out. First time this has happened.
So I can send email via thunderbird to my personal Hotmail acc. (find the email in my hotmail inbox) I tried replying to this test email but no success.
In my webmail (hostgator) there is no evidence of any messages sent or received
I'm afraid the "cron" thing is beyond me. Don't have a clue what it is. perhaps something to do with my website. On a windows machine
Thank You!
It is a concern that no new emails are being received in the hostgator webmail account.
Test: Please send an email from your hotmail account to your hostgator account and then wait. Do you get a mailor daemon message - a bounce back message from the server to your hotmail account saying the email cannot be delivered ? If yes, what does it say ?

joshuawilsonorg I presume the owner of joshuawilson.org ? The incoming and outgoing server names do not look correct. You need to ask the people who are hosting your website what the IMAP and SMTP server names should be. Usually this info is shown somewhere in the hosting package/webmail information.
