Every time I click on a link or somewhere on the screen, a corresponding dialogue box opens. This is the same box that would open by right-clicking. For example, if I click on a bookmark, or link, the dialogue box that begins with "Open link in new tab" opens and often stays on the screen, even after that link has opened. If I click anywhere in this text area (i.e. - to move the cursor) the box that shows "undo / copy/ paste" etc. opens.

This problem just started about 1 week ago.

I do not have this problem when using offline programs (I.e. Word, etc.), only when I am online.

How can I stop these boxes from opening?

Thanks,

Don

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

FredMCD -- Yes, the problem is still there. Even when I tried to log into Mozilla to respond, when I clicked in the password field (to place the cursor) the "Copy/Paste/etc." box opened.

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
