Twice within the last week, when I have entered my login and password to two different websites (one was my Wells Fargo Bank log in where I entered my log in and password and the other was the Fairmont Hotel Club where I also entered my log in and password, I was immediately directed to a website where I was encouraged to download Internet Explorer and use Bing to search. Very distressing since I had just entered my password and log in to my bank account information. When I hit the back arrow to find the site again, it does not pop up. What should I do and what is going on?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
