Keeps telling me I have an invalid username or password... I don't. Even when Win is started in safe mode with networking.

TBird was working fine last night... this morning can't get emails or send emails. TBird status bar says it's connected to the ISP's server (Fairpoint). Verified username, password, and server settings with ISP. They are able to log into my account from their end using the same information I have. Tried uninstalling TBird and re-installing current version... same problem. Tried starting Win7 in safe-mode with networking... same problem. Finally downloaded and installed Pegasus email, using all the same settings as I used in TBird, and it worked and got my emails. I don't see how the problem can be anything but TBird. Any ideas? Thanks for reading and for any suggestions!

Invalid username or password can mean either of those is wrong or they may be correct, but not for the server settings you have selected.

User Name = full email address Password = the same one you use to access webmail account via a browser.

According to the info I located here;

I notice both your incoming and your outgoing server settings for 'Connection Security' show you have selected 'STARTTLS'.

According to the info both incoming and outgoing should be set as: 'None'.
