Messages are not updated on the IMAP server

more options

Hello,

I use Thunderbird 45.6.0 on openSuSE 13.2.

I have set an IMAP and SMTP servers for my account manually. I can receive and sent emails with no problems.

The problem is that I failed to configure the proper synchronization between local account and the IMAP server. When I delete/alter a message on the server - it is updated in my local folder (OK so far). However, when I delete/alter a message on my local folder - it is NOT updated on the server. So, the problem is that synchronization only works one-way - from server to local folder, but not backwards.

The "Keep messages for the account on this computer" flag is set, all folders are marked in "Advanced". Other parameters are generally left to default.

Interestingly, I`ve noticed that when I delete/alter a message in a local folder, than change the Server setup (e.g., change connection security from SSL to STARTTSL), then the update is synchronized to the server, but just this once.

I also want to note that I have previously used Thunderbird to access my account with IMAP for years. Recently I decided to reset old settings, so I deleted my account and created a new one (for the same mail address) - and since then I have this problem. So it must be some problem with the settings rather then with the server or hardware.

Please suggest a workaround.

Thank you for your time. Dmitry

double check the account settings at the online account side. you will have to log in via your browser and ensure the account is not set up to prevent changes to it via your computers email program.
